1. Who we are
Play, Activity and Leisure Ireland (PALI) is a not-for-profit membership organisation based in the Republic of Ireland. This policy explains how we handle personal data collected through this website, membership applications and correspondence.
2. What we collect
We collect information you provide directly: name, business details, contact information, application materials and any documentation submitted for compliance or insurance scheme purposes. We also collect technical information such as IP address and browser type via standard web logs.
3. How we use your data
We process personal data to administer membership, respond to enquiries, provide member services, process insurance scheme applications, send operational and marketing communications you have opted into, and to meet legal obligations.
4. Legal basis
Depending on the purpose, we rely on contract performance (membership), legitimate interest (member communications and network administration), consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), and legal obligation (financial and regulatory records).
5. Sharing
We share information with the insurer administering the group insurance scheme where you apply for consideration, with trusted service providers acting on our instructions (e.g. IT, payments, email delivery) and with regulators or law enforcement where required by law. We never sell personal data.
6. Retention
We retain membership records for the duration of your membership and for a further seven years thereafter in line with Irish record-keeping requirements. Marketing consents are retained until you withdraw them.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict processing of your data, to object to processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email privacy@pali.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the website and optional analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings and any cookie banner presented on the site.
9. Changes
We review this policy annually and after any significant change to our services. The current version is shown at the top of this page. Material changes will be notified to members by email.
