PALI board meets Alliance for Insurance Reform at 2026 AGM

PALI board members joined representatives of the Alliance for Insurance Reform at this year's AGM to press for sustainable, affordable cover for Irish activity and leisure operators.

Key points

  • PALI and the Alliance discussed rising public liability costs and market availability.
  • Members' anonymised claims and premium data continues to shape lobbying asks.
  • The Alliance reaffirmed its support for sector-specific recognition in insurance reform.

At the 2026 PALI Annual General Meeting, the PALI board met with representatives of the Alliance for Insurance Reform to discuss the continuing pressure that insurance costs place on Irish play, activity and leisure businesses.

The meeting focused on the real-world data PALI has collected from members: falling claim frequency in well-run venues, rising premiums, and cases where operators cannot obtain any quote at all. That evidence is being used to inform ongoing engagement with the Department of Enterprise, the Central Bank and the Oireachtas.

The Alliance for Insurance Reform, of which PALI is a sector partner, reaffirmed its commitment to pressing for reforms that recognise improving safety standards and deliver sustainable, affordable cover for SMEs and community organisations.

PALI will continue to update members on lobbying progress and is asking any operator with a recent renewal experience to share it with the policy team. Real data from real venues remains the most effective tool in the reform argument.
